Special Notice to Bay Quarter Shores Homeowners
The company providing water to Bay Quarter Shores, Inc. (BQS) is requesting a 55% rate increase. The water company is United Water Virginia, Inc. The rate increase was filed with the Commonwealth of Virginia, State Corporation Commission (SCC) on December 17, 2009. A SCC hearing is scheduled for May 18, 2010, at 10:00 AM in the Tyler Building at 1300 Main Street, Richmond, VA. Anyone wishing to speak should be registered by 9:45 AM. The case number for this filing is PUE-2009-00093.
For BQS home owners not having a well, this rate increase will mean that your water utility bill will increase. For all BQS members and associate members, this rate increase will also increase the BQS operating costs for the swimming pool, clubhouse, barn, and campground. It could also cause an increase in our annual BQS assessment, associate member fee, pool fee, and campground fees.
All BQS members and associate members should send their comments/complaints regarding this rate increase to the SCC. Perhaps with our input, the SCC will not approve the requested 55% rate increase.
The deadline for submitting comments/complaints regarding this filing is May 11, 2010.
